 Is Socapex a brandname ?
  Of course it is !

Socapex is a brandname owned by Amphenol-Socapex, the sole and only manufacturer of the real and genuine Socapex connectors.

Some companies with no relation to Socapex (like manufacturers or distributors of so-called compatible connectors) appreciate to use the word Socapex in their communication or name. This is illegal and it is not a guarantee of quality or compatibility.

Pay attention and choose the genuine Socapex connectors !

What is the spinner/Spin out ?
Some of you might have seen the male insert of the Soca 19 pins to sometimes rotate in the shell. It will no more happens !
In order to ban this phenomenon, Socapex has improved the manufacturing process of the 419AR insert. The shape of the insert has been modified since end of 2001 and it is now tightened into the shell, preventing any spinner. Guess how many extra years your Soca will last now ?

Is Socapex a member of profesional entertainment associations ?
Yes. Socapex is a member of the ESTA and the PLASA association.

Does Socapex provide a GROUDING DISK ?
Yes. Socapex has designed a grounding disk especially for the SL61 419AR. It grounds the 7 inner contacts of the 419AR together.
Inserted from the mating side of the contacts (front side), it is visible at first glance !

How to choose between Soldering or Crimping versions ?
Choosing from one option to the other depends on your habits and on the volume
of connectors you do wire :

- If you are experimented in soldering and need to wire just a few Socapex, choose
the solder version.

- If you do have a lot of Socapex to wire and wish to save money on the cabling,
choose the crimp version.Crimping also provides you with repeatability of the
termination, not depending on whom is terminating.A crimp termination is more
robust than a solder one, quicker to realise but need tooling. The Socapex SL61
range and the rectangular C146 are available either with solder or crimp contacts.

Solder contacts :

Benefits Requirement
- Easy to fix a broken connection on
stage
- Be experimented in soldering

Crimp contacts :

Benefits Requirement
- Quick and easy cabling
- Cost savings for high volumes
- Robustness
- Crimping insertion and extraction tool

SLG : The SL61 with First Mate Last Break contacts. What is it ?
First mate last break contacts are designed to protect users and equipments. They are used for the earth contacts. Mating first and breaking last, they prevent of any electrical shock. The SLG series is the First mate last break version of the SL61. The 7 inner contacts of the SLG 419AR are longer and used for the connection of the 6 circuit earth contacts.

What are the qualifications of the SL61 ?
The SL61, the Rectangular and the XLR connectors are UL approved.
The rectangular line is also approved according to DIN / VDE specification.
See the Products pages for more information about qualifications

What about the CE Marking on connectors ?
The CE marking is not necessary for electrical connectors.
The UTE CEF 48B Connector Commision classifies the electrical connectors as passive components and concludes that the CE marking is not required, neither on the product itself, neither on the package. It is however required for the system using this connector,
